It is hard to see how we get to a place of real solutions, without the people who are working on these kinds of things really talking to each other, and really sharing information. People with a common focus on a problem from different sectors coming together. That’s what NIC provides, it’s a table, it’s a forum, it’s a place for people to share both their successes and also to talk about their challenges!"</p>

We can’t get at these problems in silence, we really need to tackle them across sectors. That sort of multi-sectoral approach has always been sort of our modus operandi in terms of the programs we fund. Then you run into this problem around the data , because different sectors, whether it’s healthcare, or human services, or law enforcement, or education, all have different systems and the only way to really track all these problems across sectors is to have a way to share information across these sectors and that’s where NIC comes in!"</p>

It demonstrates that this can be done! People can’t just say “that was impossible”, or “it is too difficult.” It offers those kind of proof-points to policymakers that: (1) this can be done, (2) it gets better results, (3) often at a more effective and cost-efficient way, and that is the value of NIC! It would be hard to find another place, that I can imagine right now, where we can have that discussion."</p>
