2016 Interoperability Standards Advisory

The Interoperability Standards Advisory (ISA) process represents the model by which the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) will coordinate the identification, assessment, and determination of the “best available” interoperability standards and implementation specifications for industry use to fulfill specific clinical health IT interoperability needs. The 2016 Interoperability Standards Advisory (2016 Advisory) remains focused on clinical health information technology (IT) interoperability and is published at https://www.healthit.gov/standards-advisory/draft-2016. For detailed background on the Advisory, its purpose, and its processes please review the 2015 Advisory. When compared to the inaugural 2015 Advisory, the 2016 Advisory has been significantly updated and expanded in the span of less than one year. These updates and improvements are due largely to the two rounds of public comment and recommendations from the HIT Standards Committee.
