The Massachusetts Taxpayer’s Foundation (MTF) conducted research, through funding by RIZE Massachusetts, to understand the economic impact of the opioid crisis on businesses. In attempts to quantify the impact of the epidemic, MTF's research focused on three categories: 1)Loss of producitivty from the labor force due to opioid use disorder, 2)economic loss due to opioid related fatalities, 3)business productivity loss from absenteeism and presenteeism. MTF hopes to increase involvement of business leaders in addressing the societal crisis of the opioid epidemic.
