Dr. Danny Morris Jr. has worked in Social Services for over 25 years. He began his career in 1995 as a group home counselor working with juvenile sex offenders and gang members, a substance abuse treatment/anger management counselor, co-occurring disorders (dual-diagnosed), and a detox counselor for a methadone clinic. In 1999, he transitioned to county government as a social worker, then a Supervisor in 2003 in Fresno County. In 2006, he was promoted to Program Manager. Dr. Morris worked for Fresno County until 2011 when Madera County hired him as a program manager and promoted him to deputy director in 2012. In 2023, Dr. Morris accepted the deputy director position over Quality Management and Administrative Services with Sacramento County's Department of Child, Family and Adult Services, where he oversees data, CQI, fiscal/budget, case reviews, policy, contracts, facilities, asset management, legislation, public records, and various other activities. Dr. Morris has extensive experience working with parents of sexually abused children, alcohol and drug abuse, teen parents, Welfare-to-Work, CalWORKs, adult services, personnel, fiscal, and various social services programs. Dr. Morris has worked as the Legislative Liaison for the County Welfare Directors Association-Children’s Committee, California Core Practice Model Leadership team, a Board Member for the Child and Family Policy Institute to California, the Central Valley Representative for the CWDA Training Champions Committee, and other local and statewide committees. He has testified before the California Senate and Assembly and has been asked to consult on various social services, fiscal, and leadership topics. Dr. Morris is an instructor for UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education in Human Services, where he teaches and helps with curriculum development. In addition, Dr. Morris has experience working with non-profit organizations and churches to build and lead change. He is a Fresno/Madera National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) board member. Dr. Morris has an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Master’s in Business Administration, and Doctorate in Psychology with an Emphasis on Integrating Learning and Technology.
