Matt Bishop is President & CEO of Open City Labs, a Referral and Form Management platform that makes it seamless to connect patients to clinical care, social services and government programs that improve health by addressing both clinical and social needs. Matt is a member of two national committees developing standards for closed loop referral (Office of National Coordinator for Health IT's 360x) and social risk factors (HL7 Accelerator GRAVITY Project). He is the author of the forthcoming book “Unleashing Impact: How Government Can Spark Innovation through Platforms, AI and Blockchain and Technologies,” Apress/Springer 2020. A sought-after speaker on topics like product development, entrepreneurship & civic and health technology, Matt has spoken at the PCMH Congress, Youth Assembly at the United Nations, South by Southwest Interactive, Health 2.0 Conference, Social Media Week, NYU, Columbia University and Cooper Union. In 2007 Matt worked in a management-training program at the Manhattan Psychiatric Center and Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center. He later joined Volunteers of America Greater New York to oversee close to $100 million in government-funded social service programs (health, housing, eldercare, veterans etc.) In 2010 Matt was appointed to the New York State Health Care Reform Advisory Committee, which advised the Governor’s cabinet on the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Matt has led web and mobile development teams for some of the world’s largest brands: Macy’s, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Esquire and PwC to name a few. A thought leader on civic and health tech, Matt worked with NYC Councilman Ben Kallos to research legislation that would modernize access to government social services and testified in front of the NYC Council regarding the legislation. In 2018 Matt presented "Approaches to Data Collection, Cross Sector Care Coordination, and Patient Engagement in Social Determinants of Health Interventions: Challenges and Technology Solutions" at the Patient Centered Medical Home Congress.
