My current position is Lead Clinical Researcher for DataInsights at the Cerner Corporation, a global electronic health record company, and an adjunct associate professor at the University of Kansas School of Nursing. I am a registered nurse, holding master degrees in nursing administration and public health, a Ph.D. in Community Psychology, and a certificate in nursing informatics. I have 15 years of clinical nursing experience in intensive care and emergency nursing, seven years of experience in quality improvement and outcomes research in the acute care setting, 15 years in academia performing health services/health behaviors research using the determinants of health and five years in informatics. My research interests include health services research, access to healthcare, care management in vulnerable populations, community health assessment and data-driven decision-making in population health. In my current position in population health, I quantify value associated with the use of electronic health record solutions using advanced statistical analysis and visualizations. I am also helping to develop strategy for collection, storage, exchange and use of determinants of health within the electronic health record.
