Share with us a short bio of yourself.
I am the health officer of the City & County of San Francisco, and director of the Population Health Division (PHD) at the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Striving to embody and promote the universal values of humility, compassion, equity and dignity, I work to convene, connect, and catalyze communities and institutions to transform narratives, policies, and systems toward a sustainable culture of equity, healing and health for all people and our planet. As health officer, I exercise leadership and legal authority to protect and promote equity and health. As PHD director, I direct public health services. I teach population health data science (with R) at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health and I maintain this public health blog (http://tomas.pro) with a focus on population health equity, leadership, lean, and data science (PHDS).

Welcome to the NIC Hub Tomas - I look forward to your participation and feedback. We recently launched this Hub, and are optimistic about it being a resource to connect people and share ideas regarding the whole array of health and social programs. I believe we were introduced a few years back through Sec Mike Wilkening when we were working with the HHS Agency on their open data initiative. Also, we were working with SF Our Children Our Families up until the untimely death of Mayor Lee.
I look forward to your comments and interacting with you as we ramp up efforts both in California and more broadly across the US.
