A research team from the Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy released a report that provides steps to improving interoperability and exchange of key data as it relates to COVID-19 containment.
The workgroup that developed this report was guided by two principles:
- Focus on the next 30-90 days: While there are many long-term infrastructure projects that could help, immediate needs call for immediate solutions.
- Use existing systems rather than building new systems: Given the time constraints and the availability of substantial pre-existing infrastructure, implementing solutions through existing systems avoids the development work that would be needed for new data flows.
