"The Kresge Foundation’s health and human services programs have been very concerned about issues around how to really advance, both health and well-being of low-income people in American cities. We can’t get at these problems in silence, we really need to tackle them across sectors. That sort of multi-sectoral approach has always been sort of our modus operandi in terms of the programs we fund. Then you run into this problem around the data , because different sectors, whether it’s healthcare, or human services, or law enforcement, or education, all have different systems and the only way to really track all these problems across sectors is to have a way to share information across these sectors and that’s where NIC comes in!"
