This session will offer participants a window into the world of women who experience pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period, while incarcerated. Participants will leave the training with a deeper understanding of the current statistics on incarcerated mothers, various correctional settings, circumstances and maternity options available to them, unique pregnancy, birthing and postpartum stressors experienced, attachment and bonding concerns and recommendations, ethical considerations on early parenting/bonding while incarcerated, and an overall increased understanding of how to support incarcerated mothers.
