The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released final regulations related to driving more interoperability and data exchange across the healthcare ecosystem. The purpose of this regulation is meant to implement provisions of the 21st Century Cures Act, to include Conditions and Maintenance of Certification requirements for health information technology (health IT) developers under the ONC Health IT Certification Program. According to this final rule, implemenation of this regulation will improve interoperability and the use of electronic health information.
