Preliminary disclosure: In the interests of transparency, I am the Director of Policy for Opioid Watch ( www.OpioidWatch.org ). Opioid Watch is an independent nonprofit news service dedicated exclusively to seeking and sharing truth about our nation's gravest public health crisis, the opioid epidemic. The Joseph H. Kanter Family Foundation (where I serve part-time as Executive Director) provided the seed money to launch Opioid Watch. Roger Parloff, an award-winning journalist and author, who previously served for over a decade as the principal legal affairs correspondent for FORTUNE, is Opioid Watch's Editor-in-Chief.
This story was recently published in Opioid Watch. It merits discussion. What are its implications for communities, municipalities, and states across our nation?
