The Director of the Office of National Drug Control has published the first national strategy for drug control under the Trump administration, and it calls for a 3-pronged approach to drug control--prevention, treatment and making the drugs less accessible. The first priority is about prevention and calls for evidence-based prevention strategies to be deployed. This is exactly the focus of the new NIC Playbook for the prevention of opioid use disorder that NIC has been working on and which will be published soon. The NIC Playbook mirrors many of the strategies suggested in the ONDCP stragegy but goes further to identify successful implementations and provide resources for further study.
