Dr. Besa Bauta is the Chief Data Officer for MercyFirst, a social service organization that provides child welfare, health and mental health services for clients in NYC, and an NYU professor in social work. As divisional lead for Research, Evaluation, Analytics, and Compliance for Health (REACH) she oversees data integration technology, infrastructure development, and analytics. Previously she served as Research Director for a USAID community-based education project in Afghanistan and as Senior Director of Research and Evaluation at Center for Evidence-Based Implementation and Research (CEBIR). She holds a Ph.D. with a concentration in health services research, MSW in Clinical Social Work, MPH in Global Public Health from NYU. Psychoanalytic training from Institute of Psychoanalytic Education, NYU Medical School, and BA from Rutgers University. Dr. Bauta has extensive expertise in monitoring, evaluation, data systems, mental health, social and health services. Her research focuses on improving health outcomes, protections of health information including ethical practices in implementing technologies in social services and healthcare.
