Jay Macedo is the Policy Planning and Evaluation Analyst for the Sonoma County Department of Health Services’ Policy, Planning and Evaluation Division. Mr. Macedo works with local governments and tribal communities to improve policy, systems, and environments in order to prevent alcohol, tobacco, other drug, and violence-related community problems. For fifteen years, he has successfully developed, managed, and evaluated multiple health programs and policies in an effort to eliminate health and social inequities.
Jay received a Master of Arts in Applied Sociology with an emphasis in social change and social justice movements from Humboldt State University. He has received leadership and policy training through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Indian Health Services’ Executive Leadership Development Program and the Leadership Institute for the Ecology and Economy’s Educating Leaders for a Sustainable Future program. In his previous positions as the National Native American AIDS Prevention Center’s (NNAAPC) Director of Special Projects and Tobacco Programs Manager at the California Rural Indian Health Board, Jay provided health and wellness program and policy capacity building to tribes, tribal organizations, and urban Indian health centers.
