Shelby Klein is the Senior Director of Program Development at the New Jersey Innovation Institute’s Healthcare Delivery Systems iLab. She heads the research and response to funding opportunities through grants, contracts and other formats. Shelby organizes strategy sessions to explore opportunities for business development and works closely with all departments within the iLab to guide overall strategic planning. Shelby came to NJII in 2018 with more than 20 years of nonprofit experience. Most of her career was spent with Care Plus NJ, Inc., a behavioral health organization where she was the Senior Vice President of Development. She helped conceptualize and gain funding for a range of cutting edge initiatives, such as integrating primary and behavioral healthcare services and leading the proposal to manage operations of a county hospital. Shelby also served as the President/CEO of a small community non-profit where she was responsible for all administrative operations. A self-described “curious person” who likes to help, Shelby appreciates the diverse aspects involved with delivering healthcare services, and serves on the Boards of multiple health and human services related community non-profit organizations.
