Agenda
Main topic: We'll continue our exploration of the six domains with an overview about the key drivers within Education that need to be considered as part of linking and interacting with other domains.
We'll begin our orientation and exploration of the education domain with an overview and discussion about PK-20 education and its current status in interoperability within and outside the education domain. We will also cover a high-level view of PK-12 tech architecture in order to provide our domain partners with a view of how our systems function at a federal and local level and share both the challenges and opportunities to coordinate care, services, and education initiatives by including schools. We want to have an in-depth discussion and Q&A of the education domain, the data exchange intersections that would benefit individuals, families and organizations and the implications for connections with other domains.
Our moderator: Sandra Elliott is the Chief Academic Officer for the EP3 Foundation, a 501c3 focused on data privacy, protection and personalization. She will be joined by Marsali Hancock, CEO of EP3 Foundation and Larry Smith, CPO of GG4L.

More Information About the Education Domain Presentation
Communities thrive when families are supported with services to help students stay in school; parents find and keep their jobs, access healthcare, and emotionally connect with friends and family. We also know that students learn best when their social determinants are supported. Support services come from a variety of health and human service providers, schools, community organizations, workforce services, and others. Each has its own digital communication system, implements different data standards and structures, and has required to meet various compliance obligations.
It turns out that identifying and then agreeing on people's identity is one of the biggest obstacles to providing coordinated, comprehensive wrap-around services.
Without resolving identity and consent ambiguity, it is impossible to electronically, in real-time, coordinate, communicate, and manage education, workforce services, and health and human services care across the public institutions providing services. Even when they are received from their local city or county.
Join us to learn about education interoperability initiatives, issues and how schools can help resolve some of the most challenging identity and consent challenges, including identifying someone under the age of 18 and the identity of the custodial parent.
Presenters Bios
Sandra Elliott As Chief Academic Officer for EP3 Foundation and GG4L, she is a career educator who has spent over 4 decades working to enhance education for all students and improve schools and their systems around the globe. She has served as a teacher and five-time principal in Florida and Colorado. She has held senior level positions at public/private education providers and foundations; BrightBytes, Amplify, Great Minds-Eureka Math, Edison Learning and the Communities Foundation of Texas. Sandra is currently working on interoperability efforts across sectors to improve data driven decisions for students, their families and educators. She is leading research effort focused on edtech solutions and increased safety in US schools and another aimed at increasing school access to job skilling. She is a member of the UNESCO sponsored international EDUsummIT that meets biennially.
Marsali Hancock As CEO and President for EP3 Foundation, Marsali is also a Stanford MediaX Distinguished Visiting Scholar; Chair, IEEE Standards for Child and Student Data Governance Working Group and editorial advisor for policy newsletter. She chairs, Adaptable Security, the nonprofit that is the only security assessment and social platform designed to empower consumers and small nonprofit and businesses. Marsali also serves as Chair, Family, Adolescent, and Children Sub-committee on Santa Clara County Behavioral Health and is Board.Commissioner with the Global Information Infrastructure Commission.
Larry Smith As Chief Product Officer, Larry is responsible for product strategy and delivery at GG4L. Larry brings substantial engineering and executive experience in data, application and network security and champions GG4L's focus on student data privacy, security and on-line safety. His experience in highly available systems, identity management and global sales help GG4L deliver robust, innovative solutions that are globally relevant in a rapidly evolving educational technology landscape. When not focused on technology, Larry enjoys living in the San Francisco Bay Area with his partner Pam, outdoor sports, travel, being off the grid and the occasional sausage and beer.
