Nava,
My online "book" undergoes a revision about every 6 months as it adds contributions from within the humanitarian and scientific realms of knowledge, regarding healthcare reform. The "book" can easily be found at https://nationalhealthusa.net ; My current attention is to complete a full definition of HEALTH especially a means to account for the effects occurring from our nation's loss of SOCIAL COHESION in the last 50 years. The underlying impetus is to compile a "unified epistemology" for the fundamental concepts applicable to healthcare reform. For instance, what is it that occurs within a community that drives the intractable character of its pockets of poverty? I suspect that two factors interact. One is the resilieny of its safety net, especially for disasters. And the other is each community's capability for solving evolving deficiencies within its safety net, its ability to improve its neighborhood housing dimensions, and its ability to assure equitably available and accessible Primary Healthcare for each resident.
So maybe, Social Cohesion represents
. a broadly shared belief among a nation's citizens
. that the citizens of each other's community are Trustworthy and
. that each of these communities maintains
. their own Suvival Commons (aka enhanced safety net) with sufficient Social Capital
. for achieving their community's equitable contribution
. to the norms of Trust experienced throughout their nation's communities.
The life-long career of Robert Putnam underlies the basis for this rather global definition. Obviously, solving poverty is a nationally guided and locally implemented, generational issue.
